Pretend Play is Significant for Kids

Every kid passes through a stage of playing pretend. This stage plays a huge role in every child's overall development.

One good thing about pretend play is that your child can fit into a lot of roles. There is no limit as to what roles she can play and in the process she will learn how to hone her life skills that she can make use of later in life. She can be grand as a queen, a fabulous princess, a stay at home mom who waits for his family in their Little Tikes Country Cottage. She can also be a graceful ballerina or a runner if she wants to. The choice is hers but the responsibility to help her distinguish reality from make believe is on the parents.

There are a lot of roles in life that where they can choose from. This role playing thing will allow your little boy to hone his skills. Boys and girls alike oftentimes think of something grand in the barest toy that they get. This skill of pretending is essential in the learning process and their entire development.

Imaginative play teaches your child. Have you ever noticed how preschool and kindergarten classrooms have areas for pretend play? Research has shown that pretend play does give with a microcosm for life that encourages children to take the skills they learned in the classroom and apply them later in life.

Pretend play builds many things in your child. Skills like social and emotional skills, language skills, thinking skills and it nurtures the imagination. Pretend play does not have to cost much, you can do well with a lot of stuff in your home. You can build houses with large boxes and crates, create make-believe dresses from old clothes, fabric and socks. Old bags, old phones and stuff can be used to beautify your pretend house, and more. The ideas are endless. You can just let it flow and pretend, pretend, pretend.
