Creating the nursery is one of the funnest projects you can do while pregnant. This is a place your baby will spend a good deal of time, and thus it should be a relaxing but visually stimulating room. In the nursery, it's likely that you'll get new curtains, paint the walls, and a new crib with baby bedding. For the walls, you can choose either bright primary colors, or soft pastels.
If you want the baby's room to be a gender-specific color, it is best to paint after the child is born. Paint the wood trim a light shade or a contrasting color of the nursery wall. If the walls have been painted a specific color, the flooring will probably be neutral.
A nursery's key feature is the crib bedding. You can help add to the gender of the room by supplementing it with baby girl bedding sets. You may choose a baby bedding with a whimsical print, with a character from a children's TV show, or has stripes or polka dots or an appropriate color.
You should make sure that the bedding and wall color work together by contrasting with each other or looking the same. You may decide to buy your paint after purchasing the baby bedding or vice versa, but in either case you should consider how the two will match.
You can use the baby bedding as a theme for the whole room; for instance, many people get curtains to match the sheets and make the nursery look cohesive. If you go with bedding that features a TV or movie character, you might be able to find a lamp, switch plate, trashcan or other item that showcases the same character. After deciding on the overall color and design motif, select a few well-chosen items for decorating the walls. Sometimes just replacing the dresser pulls and knobs can give a whole new look the the entire nursery.
Safety is number one priority when purchasing bedding and setting up your baby's crib! To avoid suffocation, all soft items such as pillows and blankets should not be placed in the crib with your baby. Also, the sheet must fit snugly on the mattress. Although they may be cute, these things can raise the risk that your baby could suffocate. A blanket or pillow can easily cover a baby's face, so be extremely careful not to cover the baby's nose or mouth.

Fine motor skills are described as the coordination of the small muscle movements which usually occur in the fingers and usually in coordination with the eyes. When related to the hands (and fingers) the term dexterity is most commonly used.
Manual dexterity is the ability for the hands and fingers to make coordinated movements. Strong fine motor skills, such as those used when writing, knitting, sewing and other activities that involve the hands and fingers, rely on manual dexterity.
In young children, manual dexterity is developed normally through routine activities that also require hand-eye coordination. Some children’s fine motor skills develop faster and are stronger than those of others and some children with weak fine motor skills may struggle when learning to form letters and beginning to write.
Because there are many reasons why fine motor skills and the associated manual dexterity may be affected, paediatric occupational therapists often work with children to improve their manual dexterity.
Thankfully however, there are many ways to help your child improve manual dexterity through simple every day, hands-on activities. Exercising a child’s fingers and hands can dramatically improve their manual dexterity so do try some of the following activities:
Threading cereals that have an O-shape – Threading cereal onto yarn is an activity that requires fine motor skills and is repetitively exercising the same muscles, all the while practicing hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
Sewing with yarn (wool) and cardboard – This is another great activity that can improve manual dexterity and builds on fine motor skills. Children simply feed the yarn back and forth through holes which requires concentration and can also satisfy a child creatively.
Color in pages – Coloring in - more so than ‘random’ drawing, requires children to hold crayons firmly to stay within the lines of the image they are trying to color. This too requires concentration and gives the child an end result to be proud of. At sites such as Bratz Coloring Pages you’ll find the best Bratz coloring for little girls, while little boys would perhaps enjoy the Pokemon coloring sheets at Pokemon Coloring Pages.
For particularly young children who cannot color yet or play with small objects, a classic shape sorter toy is a great place to start. For older children, small, interlocking building blocks such as Lego or Duplo are great ways to play while improving and strengthening their manual dexterity.

Keeping close to mother's side is important for the development of the baby and the sense of trust in this great big wide world to which it has just been introduced. A main reason moses baskets are so popular is because they keep baby close to mom any where to goes in the house. Furthermore, you can purchase a rocking stand accessory with a coordinating skirt to keep the moses basket at eye level of beds and desks.
There you are juggling cell, laptop, diaper bag, and your espresso drink; how do you handle baby as well? Doing four different things for work at once is no problem. You do that easily. However, juggling baby is just not quite what you had in mind. Lightweight moses baskets can increase your mobility around the house and outdoors easily.
After your baby has outgrown the moses basket use it for storing linens or as a bed for your pet.
How to Choose a Moses Basket
When shopping for a Moses Basket it is very important to test the strength of the fiber used for the weave. The strongest material is wicker, though more expensive. Many moses baskets are made of palm or maize refined into woven fibers. Since they are used only for about 3 months or less, one option is to go with lighter weight and more pliant fibers over stiff but long lasting wicker.
Please note that carrying your baby in the basket while walking with it is not recommended. You must test the integrity of the handles and support the bottom of the basket with your hand when moving it from one location to another. Also, to carry the basket with one hand, you absolutely must double check that the handles meet in the middle. Take baby out of the basket first if there is any doubt at all. One place we saw with a wide selection of moses baskets is BlissLiving.com which also has a wide assortment of personalized gifts for mom and baby along with a lot of other designer nursery decor.
